Financial Support

  • Projects

The JX Fund provides grants of varying amounts to support exiled media outlets in rebuilding their operations. To date, within the frameworks of the four running regional programs, the JX Fund has provided 71 exiled editorial teams from Afghanistan, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine with financial assistance via 129 grants. These teams operate across more than 25 different countries, contributing to the preservation of independent journalism worldwide.

FLEXIBLE FUNDING CONDITIONS

Financial support is awarded to established media that have steady audiences in their countries of origin and, in fewer cases, to start-ups that have developed innovative models for their work in exile. Essential prerequisites for eligibility include a clear editorial concept and a medium-term financial and strategic plan for the outlet’s growth and enhancement.

The duration of funding, maximum grant sums, and additional conditions differ with each funding cycle. Reapplication and repeated funding are possible. Decisions on funding and grant amounts are based on recommendations of a rotating international expert committee.

IMPACT AND REACH

“The news of JX Fund’s support came at a time when the team was in a difficult situation of lack of resources (monetary and emotional). Thanks to these funds, we were able to pay salaries on time and motivate employees to get involved in new tasks to develop a donation campaign plan, project proposals for foundations, and new formats.”
