JX Fund, together with ASL19, is launching a series of online webinars as part of Digital Future Dialogue (DFD), focused on the technical challenges faced by independent exiled media organizations — and how to respond to them. We invite representatives from independent exiled media around the world to join us, learn practical defences against digital threats, and connect with peers facing the same challenges.

FORMAT: Starting October 22, sessions will run on Thursdays (every two weeks; with a break over the holidays), at 4:00 – 5:30 pm CET. Each session brings together technologists and media practitioners to dig into one specific topic — digital security, censorship, or a media organization’s capacity to maintain and grow its technical infrastructure. For security reasons, none of the webinars will be recorded — attendance is live only.

WHO IT’S FOR: These webinars are designed for a non-technical audience — you don’t need to be a developer or IT specialist to follow along and put the material to use. Please share this form with your journalist colleagues, editorial teams, and anyone curious about what happens behind the screen when a media website gets DDoSed, blocked, or targeted by a phishing attempt.

LANGUAGE: All sessions will be held in English.

PLANNED TOPICS FOR THE SERIES:

  • Phishing attacks on digital infrastructures: how to be resistant and cost-effective
  • DDoS attacks on websites/apps: how to defend yourself if you don’t have a tech team
  • Tech & circumvention for media: how you can be censored and what you can do about it
  • Capacity building: what you can do instead of hiring in-house developers
  • AI in media: how to responsibly use AI in your work
  • Transnational repression for exiled communities: lessons learnt and best practices
  • Media and FOSS: how media can support technologists in their work
  • Media analytics: how to check whether your readers are inside or outside the country, and whether your circumvention tools are working for them

SESSION DATES: 22 October 2026, 5 November 2026, 19 November 2026, 3 December 2026, 17 December 2026, 14 January 2027, 28 January 2027.

Please register by October 8, 2026.
