The Pulitzer Center is seeking proposals to advance wide-reaching and relevant journalism on issues impacting communities in Africa, including but not limited to water and sanitation, land degradation and coastal erosion, education, maternal health, and climate resilience. They encourage local journalists to apply.

They value cross-border and collaborative reporting, data-driven projects, and innovative, interdisciplinary approaches. This grant is open to freelance and staff journalists worldwide.

The Pulitzer Center is eager to fund as much in-depth reporting as possible that is as safe as possible for the journalists and touches on a broad range of topics, including possible pathways to peace. Since its earliest days, the Pulitzer Center has supported hundreds of reports on underreported angles of conflicts around the world, from Afghanistan to Yemen, Iraq, Darfur, Ethiopia, Myanmar, and more.

The Pulitzer Center’s global reporting grants support in-depth, high-impact reporting on critical issues that are often overlooked in the media. This is a “catch-all” grant, so there are no restrictions on topic or reporting location. Staff and freelance journalists are eligible worldwide.

The Media Forward fund supports non-profit media organizations that want to expand their financial sustainability with a specific project. In doing so, they close a gap in reporting and ideally use approaches that differ from existing approaches in the DACH region and/or in their own market. The next application phase starts in August 2025.

Bellingcat is looking for wildlife and environment-related pitches grounded in open-source methods and tools. Open-source methods can include satellite data to expose illegal activities, ship tracking to monitor pollution, and social media analysis to uncover wildlife trafficking networks.
