Home Audiences: 10 Media Outlets Comment on Our New Report
12/11/2026
We are pleased to invite you to the presentation of our report “Mission Possible. Independent Exiled Media Continue Reaching Audiences at Home.”
Authoritarian regimes are afraid of a free press. They violently persecute journalists, force entire newsrooms into exile and pursue them across borders. They intimidate audiences and try to undermine trust in the independent press while cutting off or shutting down as many distribution channels as they can, so that information no longer reaches people in their countries and government propaganda remains the only source available.
Exiled media must fight both for access to their audiences back home and for their trust. In addition, they face the same challenges independent media are currently facing everywhere, from fragmented audiences and polarization to dependence on platform algorithms and competition for attention, among many others.
These challenges are the focus of our new report, produced in cooperation with The Fix Research and Advisory. The findings are based on the monitoring of 246 exiled outlets from eight countries and a survey of 33 outlets.
Date: Thursday, November 12
Time: 4:00–5:30 p.m. CET
